Hutt Valley news did a piece on the Waiwhetu Goodcrew and myself joining forces to create a mural to go on a frequently tagged wall.

The article wrote, " The Waiwhetu Goodcrew have joined forces with mural artist Elyse Ripia to turn a wall often targeted by taggers into an expression of their pride in the area."

The mural consists of the seven stars shooting over the Wainuiomata ranges and Waiwhetu stream. Whetu means stars and we also included a quote at the bottom that the children chose that reads "dedicate the precious days of your lives to the betterment of the world".

Elyse Ripia won first place in the Hutt Valley mural competition againest four other artists. They were asked to base their theme on the beauty of the Valley. They had a 3mx3m wall space and three hours to do it in. Elyse's mural was based on the natural beauty of the landscape in the Hutt Valley. It was judged by three members of the council.
